It's recommended to book your transportation in advance, especially during peak season (July-August), as ferries and catamarans can fill up quickly. Below are some common options.
The nearest airport to Ios is the Santorini International Airport (JTR), which is located on the neighboring island of Santorini. From there, you can take a ferry or catamaran to Ios. Many airlines operate flights to Santorini from major cities in Europe.
Catamarans are faster than ferries and provide a smoother ride, but are generally more expensive. There are several catamaran companies that operate routes to Ios, including SeaJets, Golden Star Ferries, and Hellenic Seaways.
Ios is well connected by ferry to other islands in the Cyclades, as well as to Athens (3 hrs) and other ports in mainland Greece.
